India’s Toy Candy Houses
Dating back as early as 1941, these houses found in South India were well ahead of their time, influencing Italian designer and founder of Memphis Group Ettore Sottsass after his many travels around India.
Have a Melt Down
This candle from Journey of Something is speaking to me at the moment, anyone else?
Every Video from OK Go
Who remembers the video of four guys dancing on treadmills? I rediscovered OK Go this week and suffice to say it’s put some much needed colour back in my life. The multi-hyphenate four have a tendency to blow things up (smoke bombs, pianos, my mind) and this time the explosion was bigger than ever.
Digital Dreamscapes
Carlos Neda is the 3D Art Director at Reisinger Studio and is pulling Interior Designs straight out of my dreams. These textures and colours are taking me back to episodes of Tiny Planets, is that just me?
Camille Walala Built A LEGO House
Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself, but I’m putting money down on the fact that LEGO is coming back on trend. Just last month, the company released DOTS, a new 2D iteration of the traditional 3D bricks, aimed at encouraging children to shed their inhibitions and give better flexibility to designs. Ahead of the launch, LEGO invited Walala to collaborate on an installation that ‘celebrates their shared values of creativity, self-expression and accessibility, expressed through the vibrant colours and bold geometric patterns of both the new product and her own signature work.
The result is HOUSE OF DOTS, a five-room house made from more than 2 million lego pieces and spread over eight shipping containers, complete with rugs, frames and furniture. I only want to know, when can I move in?
